Percentages in real life

What this concept means
A percent is simply a part of 100. '35% off' means 35 out of every 100 dollars come off the price.
Why it matters
Discounts, tips, taxes, raises, and interest are all percentages. Misreading one can cost real money.
Where you use it
Shopping sales, restaurant tips, paycheck deductions, credit card rates, loan interest.
Real-life example
A $80 jacket at 35% off: 35% of 80 is 28. Final price = 80 − 28 = $52.
Try it yourself
A $120 grocery bill has 8% tax. What is the total?
